HAIKU by Jennifer Gurney

Jennifer Gurney, US

happy and content

glistening in the sun

one foot in front

of the other--

I step closer to you

even the most

gossamer of connections

tether me to you

the moon

the stars, the sun

orbital balance

your love

was a blanket

for my heart

ocean touches sky

at the horizon --

the power of

our words

to lift each other

my miles-to-go are

very different now than

fifty years ago

when I open

a box of your letters

you are here

Jennifer Gurney lives in Colorado where she teaches, paints, writes and hikes. Her poetry has appeared in a variety of journals, including Glitterati Quill with Spark, The Ravens Perch, HaikUniverse, Haiku Corner, Cold Moon Journal, Scarlet Dragonfly and The Haiku Foundation.
