Don't change! 

O life,

my life,

who have

given me

pearls of sacred

wisdom

and grains of light

steeped in humble

will.

Welcome the word,

master

of time,

far from a thousand

wounds,

gentle mirror

of streets paved

by silent footsteps

and young lives

still enclosed

in the maternal womb.

Contemplate

your sign

carved in the darkness

of the

cold season

and save

the

hard day

burden of weary

nights

rest your limbs

life

friend of infinite

battles

and landing

of ships departed

from distant shores.

Give no respite

to the rebellious wind

that like a

child

plays and chases

the wandering thought

child of rage

and stupid deceptions

born from minds

dormant

by the dark tyrant

and the sad

souls

of men

already extinguished

by ego

and inner emptiness!

Courage

Scarred

by foul

indifference,

I heard cries

stolen moans

vile betrayal

flowing

from the cesspool

steeped in bitter

carnage.

Nor were you

a bold dream

an execrated sailing ship

a brave warrior

a true witness

of the infinite

courage

an alabaster

fortress

son of the

red

sunset.

Soul 

Come out, my soul,

from this

shell

that encloses you

and

protects you.

Go out, go!

Travel without hesitation,

carry with you

the beautiful seasons,

glide over the sweet

ridge

of your eternal

feeling.

Fly ever higher

and

indomitable

travel

through your

green pastures

where once

you

laid

the tired primrose

of the sacred maternal

fire.

Contemplate, my soul,

the eternal lilies

like golden

caskets

and

powerful

but delicate

flowers

of

lives lived

and

loves forged

by stories

never ended.

Let, my soul,

the thought

of the green path

illuminate the footsteps

ancient and future

carved

in the humble

earth

bloody road

of

a thousand battles

and

majestic landing

for the great

warrior!

Francesco Favetta is a Sicilian poet and writer who believes that culture and poetry are essential for the soul's freedom and growth. Born in Sciacca, Sicily, he has published several works, including the book "Beyond-Blue-Echoes-Silence" and various anthologies and magazines worldwide. He was awarded the title of Academician of Sicily in 2018 and has been featured in numerous international literary publications. Francesco is also the founder of a theater company and a Lions Club in Sciacca. He firmly believes that poetry will be a powerful tool for humanity's liberation and that beauty will always prevail despite life's challenges.
