THE VOYAGE OF BUTTERFLIES
T.V. Ramana
Through the tender light of dawn, the winds embrace,
Duty's call resounds, and two buses are in line to chase.
Its a time-bound quest, a daily challenge to define,
So, I mount my bike, like an unfettered bird, truly free.
Darting through the cool wind's embrace,
Raindrops join the dance, a rhythmic grace.
Up the ghats, where the clouds winds, and showers,
Forests, fields, a symphony of morning hours.
Chasing the swarms of dragonflies, and honeybees,
I'm on a journey, through lands of green trees
Butterflies flutter and dangle, a colorful stream,
Rainbow hues and shades in the sunbeam.
Between the trees, on the busy highway,
Nature and man quest to compete each day.
The flight of butterflies, a delicate ballet,
Against the gusts of west winds, they find their way.
Through the gorges, where the wild winds blow,
I witness the beauty, in the valleys below.
Teams of butterflies, a winged parade,
Yet tragedy strikes, a journey betrayed.
On the highway, where speeding vehicles roam,
Butterflies flash with a magical tone.
Like colour fish in an ocean of blue canvas vast,
They swim through tides, a fragile contrast.
Crashing against the vehicles, with a low thud,
Some swaying like leaves, on the dark tar road.
Under tires heavy, their fate is sealed,
Yet, in their demise, the spirit that hard to yield.
I slow my bike, with a heart full of care,
To save their lives, in the morning air.
For in the battle of nature and man's design,
Butterflies triumph in one, in the other they resign.
So let this tale be a testament so true,
Of a journey where nature and roads accrue.
Amidst the woods, ghats, and the valley's cool mist,
Butterflies triumph, on highways, a poignant drift.
